common problems with electric golf trolleys

No power in Pro Rider golf trolley

QUESTION

I found your website advertising spare parts for the Pro Rider golf trolley.

I have had my trolley for only 3 years, and I have only used it for no more than 10 rounds of golf. I replaced the acid battery 12 v as it lost its charge with a new Lithium 12.8v battery recently. I have had one round of golf with the new battery, and it worked really well. This week, after recharging the new battery, I went to the golf club, connected everything, and found that there was no power; the LEDS lights did not come on. I have had the battery checked and tried a different battery, and still no power.

So it looks like I need to buy a part, but the question is which one. I am told it is either the Controller part number SIG-T2D3-12V-J  SKU2108 or it’s the Handle circuit board  SKU 2109.

ANSWER

Thanks for your full explanation on the newer coloured handled Pro Rider golf trolley.  Going over a few things, like: Is the battery fully charged, as Lithium batteries take a different type of charger and a higher voltage switch off? But if you have tried it under another working battery, then this should almost rule that out as a fault. Unfortunately, the spares can’t be fitted for testing purposes as this could damage them and also make them used parts.

Please check the following first before changing the components.

JWM Trolleys’ engineer recommends checking for your Pro rider golf trolley if it shuts off:

  • The battery cable is working well
  • The battery itself is working well
  • The main wire in the cart is not cut in any way, causing a short.
  • The speed control wasn’t jumping around when scrolling the speed up and down before it failed.
  • Connectors and connections are all good. Spray WD-40 on them all.

Once those tasks are done, JWM Trolleys would then look at the controller unit or the handle circuit.

Trolley is erratic it jumps from low to high on the display, how much is a replacement display

If the speeds are difficult and erratic to adjust, its most likely the speed control adjuster. Please see the link for the speed control adjuster in the online store.

My trolley lights are on, but when I press the start button or the 10, 20, 30 button it won’t go forward. I replaced the motherboard, still the same. Thanks

One thing to check the motor direct is not burnt out, either (the sniff test) or this can be checked by putting a 12v to the motor connectors itself. Before looking at a controller unit. I would visually check the main wire is intact or by a few wiggles then I would look at a new controller unit for the specific model of handle.

Having problems with my Stowamatic. When you turn speed control it will not run.
The relay box under the trolley clicks when you turn the speed control. Have recently started using a different power charger and the problem has started since using it. It’s 14 years old so it it time to buy a new trolley?

Depending on the model of Stowamatic . I can get spares for the GXT with the round green handle but not the older GTS.

Pro Rider Electric Golf Trolley fails to switch on & display panel fails to light up.
I have tested all connections, power cables, battery charge status etc & all OK.
I removed the potentiometer switch unit & ran a test & it is faulty ie when rotating the knob whilst connected to my tester in ohms mode the readings are very erratic.
I also ran a similar test on a new spare Powakaddy potentiometer switch which I have & the readings were sound ie starting from zero & increasing, as I rotated the knob clockwise, to maximum.
Do you have a spare pot switch for this model trolley as I cannot locate same on your website?
I am resident in the Republic of Ireland.
    Thank you,
    Kind regards,
    Gordon
